PARACHUTE RECORDS – 2 LP
Description
Having been circulated unofficially several times in the past and now reissued by Parachute Recordings on a double LP, “Live At The Mermaid” contains the (partial) recording of the mini concert that David Gilmour held at the Mermaid Theatre in London on March 7, 2006 (the day after his sixtieth birthday) as a warm-up date for the tour promoting his solo album “On An Island”: in the intimate and private atmosphere of the small theatre and in front of around 600 spectators, the English singer-songwriter and guitarist performed a shortened set that was later broadcast by the BBC, radio and television. The late Richard Wright (piano, organ, synthesizer and vocals) and Dick Parry (tenor and baritone saxophone), former Roxy Music man Phil Manzanera (electric guitar and vocals), Guy Pratt (bass, double bass, guitar and vocals), Jon Carin (keyboards, synthesizer, vocals and lap steel guitar) and Steve DiStanislao (drums, percussion and vocals) join Gilmour in a reduced setlist in which the performance of five new songs is followed by two Pink Floyd classics (“Shine On You Crazy Diamond Parts IV” and “Comfortably Numb”) and the live debut of “Wearing The Inside Out” from “The Division Bell”, sung as in the studio version by Wright (who co-wrote it with Anthony Moore).
