[A superb pro-shot from our newly discovered series]
This is Cheap Trick from 2015/2016. 2016 is a memorable year for them as they came to Japan, but this Port Chester performance takes place about a year earlier. It was the final day of their massive “North America #3” leg. It was about six months before the release of their new album ‘BANG, ZOOM, CRAZY… HELLO’, and this recording captures a time when newly completed songs were already being incorporated into their live performances.

This release, which captures such a show, is also the latest installment in the much-talked-about “Port Chester New Discovery Series.” Initially, it surprised everyone by releasing a series of previously unreleased soundboard recordings, but since then, even multi-camera pro-shot footage has surfaced! This week, along with the Jeff Beck and Tears for Fears editions, the Cheap Trick edition has also been released simultaneously.

The quality is “official-grade + unique.” The crucial picture and sound quality are both top-notch, official-grade. The footage, which captures everything from close-ups of the members to panoramic views of the stage, is thoroughly engaging, and the audio is of superb soundboard quality. However, it has a different nuance from typical official works, being quite raw. It doesn’t have the refinement of official videos that are produced after the show, and the switching seems to have been done on-site, making it a little rough. There is no screen at this venue, but the footage has an authentic feel, as if it were filmed specifically for the live performance.

[A visually stunning entertainment masterpiece packed with rare tracks and surprises]
This is a greatest hits compilation, plus a little extra, presented with stunning visuals. Let’s take a look at the setlist here.

●Pale Highway (4 songs)
– Hello There / Come On, Come On / Big Eyes / I Want You To Want Me
●Heaven’s Trap (3 songs)
– California Man / On Top Of The World / Surrender
●Others (12 songs)
– Bang Zoom Crazy Hello: The “In” Crowd / Long Time No See Ya
– Others: Lookout / Tonight It’s You / If You Want My Love / Borderline / Baby Loves To Rock / Daddy Should Have Stayed In High School / I’m Waiting For The Man / The Flame / Dream Police / Goodnight

…and that’s how it goes. The sheer number of classic hits from their golden age, from “Hello There” to “Surrender,” is breathtaking. But this set is not just a greatest hits live performance. First, “The “In” Crowd” and “Long Time No See Ya” from the unreleased album “BANG, ZOOM, CRAZY… HELLO” are performed. New songs that even fans haven’t heard yet are seamlessly integrated into the set. Furthermore, there are unexpected twists at key points, such as the sudden appearance of a cover of THE VELVET UNDERGROUND’s “I’m Waiting For The Man” and the inclusion of the rare “Daddy Should Have Stayed In High School.” It’s a set that builds excitement with the classic hits of their golden age, while also offering a delightful variety that defies convention.

And there was another fun, unique incident that occurred during this film. It happened during the encore before “Long Time No See Ya,” when the band returned to the stage. Rick Nielsen invited Junko, a resident of Yokohama, to come up on stage. She is a die-hard Japanese female fan who has been following the band since the 1978 album “AT BUDOKAN,” and Rick happily introduced her by saying, “Tonight is her 200th time seeing them. It’s crazy!”

This is the Cheap Trick edition of the Port Chester unearthed pro-shot series. With official-quality video and superb soundboard footage, you can enjoy approximately 94 minutes of classic songs from their golden age, unreleased tracks, and even unpredictable happenings. Please enjoy it to the fullest.
