Description
THE LOST LIVE ALBUM!
â– Soundboard recordings made for a live album
â– ”Satisfaction” with Stevie Wonder
â– Soundboard recording of “Dead Flowers” that was left out of the selection, and other rare tracks from the same tour
â– 6 takes from tour rehearsals in Switzerland The
1972 tour was recorded for a live album, and although the release itself was canceled, it resulted in many titles that are considered masterpieces in collectors’ history, such as those from Philadelphia and Fort Worth. This album, “Keep Your Motor Runnin'”, is one of the titles created from such leaks, and not only is the sound quality outstanding, but what sets it apart from the aforementioned leaked soundboard recordings is that overdubs have been added, proving that work was done specifically for release.
The main focus is the Philadelphia performance on July 20, 1972, but the best takes from many other performances are also included, and although it is not a complete reproduction of the setlist from that time, it is a cohesive live album that starts with “Brown Sugar” and ends with “Satisfaction”. Particularly noteworthy is the medley of “Uptight” and “Satisfaction”. Stevie Wonder makes a surprise appearance and sings along, resulting in a very funky arrangement that heavily reflects Stevie’s influence.
Disc 2 includes a soundboard recording of “Dead Flowers” from the same tour that didn’t make it onto Disc 1, as well as audience recordings of rare tracks not included on Disc 1, such as “Sweet Black Angel,” “Honky Tonk Women,” “Loving Cup,” “Torn And Frayed,” and “Ventilator Blues.” It also includes five existing tracks (six takes) from a tour rehearsal held in Switzerland on May 28, 1972. This is a
fantastic soundboard recording from the Rolling Stones’ 1972 US tour, which could be called an unreleased live album. A beautifully pressed picture disc for permanent preservation.
