An unofficial triple clear vinyl radio-sourced LP released by FM Concerts features the complete concert Phil Collins gave on October 30, 2005, at Piata Constitutiei (Constitution Square) in Bucharest during his “First Final Farewell Tour”: an event that went down in history for non-musical reasons as well, as a symbol of connection and cultural exchange between the Western world and Eastern Europe. In front of a huge audience estimated at between 120,000 and 150,000 people, the English performer performed with a band led by keyboardist Brad Cole and including traditional Genesis sidemen Daryl Stuermer (guitar) and Chester Thompson (drums), as well as bassist Nathan East, percussionist Luis Conte, backing vocalists Amy Keys, Arnold McCuller, Connie Jackson-Comegys and Bill Cantos and the Vine Street Horns aka Harry Kim (trumpet), Daniel Fornero (trumpet), Gerald Albright (saxophone) and Arturo Velasco (trombone). Packed with hits (“Something Happened on the Way to Heaven”, “Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now)”, “Another Day in Paradise”, “In the Air Tonight”, “Sussudio”, “Invisible Touch” by Genesis) the setlist was well balanced between upbeat songs and ballads, original compositions and covers (“You Can’t Hurry Love” by the Supremes, “Easy Lover” by Philip Bailey, “I Can’t Stop Loving You (Though I Try)” by White Horse, “True Colors” by Cyndi Lauper, “Separate Lives” by Stephen Bishop) and with adequate space for the captivating percussive interludes that saw Collins duet with Thompson and Conti.
