Bottom Line, New York, NY. USA 12th July 1978 Early Show STEREO SBD
The early show on July 12, 1978 was completely recorded with ultra-high quality stereo line recording. Following the bottom line three performances that appeared last year and delighted fans all over the world, this is a must-listen ultra-high quality recording take for fans.
It is recorded with an ultra-clear sound that is so fresh it makes you think it is a direct recording from the master, and not only is Laura’s vocals crystal clear, but even her breathing is recorded realistically, allowing you to enjoy a live piano performance with an excellent sound that could not be better.
Perhaps because it was an early show on the first day, the passionate vocal performance was simply breathtaking, and the audience seemed to be silently listening intently to the quality of the music. It is truly fortunate for music fans around the world that such high-quality sound was captured at this time of year.
The set is centered around tracks from the then-new album “Nested,” but also includes the BS&T hit “And When I Die” and “Mama Roux,” which wasn’t performed at the late show that day. This is an excellent live album that I would recommend to all Western music fans.
This is a summary of the review from Beatleg magazine, Vol. 104 (March 2009 issue).
Wolfgang’s Vault, which has been unearthing 1978 Bottom Line recordings, has now released the recording of the early show on July 12th. This is the best stereo line recording ever recorded for radio, and it’s a quality that can be enjoyed with confidence by beginners and enthusiasts alike. However, surprisingly, this show has a very different atmosphere from the other shows.
As this was the first performance of the first day’s show, the audience was holding their breath as they waited for Nyro’s entrance and performance, more so than they had for the other shows or the following day, and it was only natural that she was a little nervous as she performed. The song selection was the same as the other days, but the expression on stage was so different, as you would expect from a great artist.
With such luxuriously high-quality sound sources being unearthed, the merit of the two live tracks included as bonus tracks on “Mother’s Activities,” released on CD last year, is completely diminished. This is also a must-listen for fans without any hesitation.
