PATTI SMITH – THE ANTHEM 2025 (2 CD-R)

Patti Smith fell ill during her December 2023 tour of Italy, causing her to cancel her Bologna and Venice shows, prompting concerns about her condition. She made a spectacular comeback in Brooklyn at the end of the year, and in 2024, she began touring in two configurations, the Patti Smith Group and the Patti Smith Quartet, starting with her February New York performance. In April 2025, she returned to Japan for the first time in nine years as part of her latest project with the contemporary sound art collective, Soundwalk Collective. This release features a high-quality stereo audience recording of a live performance from her latest tour, held at The Anthem in Washington, D.C., on November 28, 2025. The recording was digitally transferred directly from the digital PCM master. Recorded slightly to the left of the PA console, the vocals are clear and distinct, and each part is exceptionally well-balanced and possesses a deep, clear sound quality. This live performance features Patti Smith and Her Band, featuring her son Jackson Smith on guitar, Tony Shanahan on bass and keyboards, Lenny Kaye on guitar and bass, and Jay Dee Daugherty on drums. This concert coincided with the release of the 50th anniversary edition of her debut album, “Horses,” released in 1975. The first set featured a full performance of “Horses,” while the second set featured a medley of Television covers without Patti. After Patti returned, the band performed “Ain’t It Strange,” a song that hasn’t appeared in recent setlists. The setlist includes “Horses” and a poetry reading by British poet William Blake, allowing you to fully enjoy the full, uncut performance.(Disc 1)
