Description
Published by Stylus Groove in just 500 hand-numbered copies and pressed on colored splatter vinyl with a different “abstract flame” pattern from one copy to the next, this unofficial LP reproduces a portion of the famous concert that Deep Purple (in the lineup including David Coverdale on lead vocals, Ritchie Blackmore on guitar, Jon Lord on organ and synthesizer, Glenn Hughes on bass and vocals and Ian Paice on drums) performed on April 6, 1974 at the Ontario Motor Speedway as part of the California Jam Festival, which they co-headlined alongside Emerson, Lake & Palmer. Broadcast at the time by the American television network ABC, the performance also went down in history for Blackmore’s excesses (after attacking a cameraman on stage, he set fire to his guitar and made it explode), and the seven songs on the setlist include pieces from the album “Burn” then being promoted, and old Deep Purple Mark II classics such as “Smoke On The Water”, “Lazy” and “Space Truckin'”. The package includes two QR codes that allow you to download the documentary film “Burn” (featuring Glenn Hughes) and an eBook dedicated to the history of the English band.
