Description
Rosemont Horizon, Rosemont, Illinois, USA 14th November 1981 STEREO SBD
The shocking first appearance of GENESIS’ soundboard has been a hot topic. Newly discovered treasures from the “ABACAB Tour” that no one has ever heard before. Two works will be released simultaneously!
This work is the first part of the two-part “ABACAB Tour” series. It is a stereo soundboard recording of the “Rosemont Performance on November 14, 1981.” Speaking of the “ABACAB Tour” soundboard, the official “THREE SIDES LIVE” and the press masterpiece “GERMAN REPLIES: FRANKFURT 1981 (Virtuoso 017/018)” are standard, but this work is different from either of them. In order to confirm the situation around that, let’s first take a bird’s-eye view of the soundboard situation in light of the schedule at that time.

This is GENESIS in 1981. The Rosemont performance of this work was the third performance at the beginning of the “North American” leg, a few weeks before the official “THREE SIDES LIVE”.
This work, which conveys such a show, is a shocking, high-end soundboard. Currently, new unreleased soundboards related to GENESIS are being discovered one after another, and our shop has just received great reviews for “NEW JERSEY 1974 (Amity 819)” and Phil Collins’ “NO JACKET REQUIRED TOUR REHEARSALS 1985 (Amity 818).” This work is the latest in this new excavation series.
The sound is truly shocking. The quality itself is what’s called “fully official,” but its uniqueness is “direct from the mix table.” The cheers sound like ripples from afar, while the unprocessed/unedited performance sounds and vocals roar with a thump. The contours are extremely vivid, with every note clearly distinguished down to the tiniest detail. Even when the three people plus two supporters are all accustomed to each other, there’s a tremendous sense of separation that doesn’t blend together at all, and the rawness of the on-site PA mix is intense (although this is only a part of the song, the heavy bass of the synth is so intense that it’s almost shocking, which is both powerful and cool!). However, if you’ve read this article, you’re probably well aware of the “taste of a direct from the mix table” without even needing to use all the words, and this work is undoubtedly the finest version of it.
Such a powerful soundboard depicts the full show of the “ABACAB Tour” that rose to the top of the scene. The set is the same as “GERMAN REPLIES: FRANKFURT 1981”, but it’s completely different from the official “THREE SIDES LIVE”. Let’s compare and organize it here.

…And so it is. The album version of “THREE SIDES LIVE” was mixed with another tour, and the video version also included off-shots, so the live performance was incomplete. In contrast, this work pours the full show into your brain.
However, only two places were complemented by the audience on the same day. After the end of “Who Dunnit?” and “Los Endos,” this was not added by our shop, but processed by the enthusiast who released it. Both were cheering parts after the performance was completely finished, and rather than compensating for the tape recording omission, they may not have been recorded because they were deemed unnecessary. In any case, you can enjoy the essential performance sound on the sound board without missing a single note.
This is the shocking first appearance of a soundboard whose existence itself was unknown. It was deleted shortly after its release and is now a hidden treasure of the modern era, making it difficult to obtain. This is a hot topic work that has been released on CD from the best master. Please enjoy it to the fullest.
