Description
Taken from a radio broadcast on WNOR FM-99, the recording contained in this unofficial LP documents the concert that Stevie Ray Vaughan held on June 22, 1980 at the King’s Head Inn in Norfolk, Virginia: three years would still have passed before his recording debut for Columbia, and the Texan guitarist supported by the first line-up of Double Trouble including Jackie Newhouse on bass and Chris “Whipper” Layton on drums performed that evening a set full of covers (including “Hideaway” by Freddie King, “Love Me Darlin'” and “I’m Leaving You” by Howlin’ Wolf, “Little Wing” by Jimi Hendrix and “Driving South” by Curtis Knight) as well as some original compositions such as “Love Struck Baby” and “I’m Cryin”” later re-proposed on the first album “Texas Flood” together with the title track taken from the repertoire of bluesman Larry Davis.
