Description
On June 30, July 1 and July 2, 1966, the group’s last year on tour, the Beatles performed five sold-out concerts (ten thousand spectators per show) at Tokyo’s historic Nippon Budokan Hall, some of which were filmed and broadcast by Nippon Television (the footage was also broadcast in the UK by Channel Four): despite heated protests from those who accused them of desecrating a sacred place, the tour was a success. This limited-edition bootleg LP on black vinyl and on the Verne Records label features the interview given on the first day at the Eric Hilton Hotel in Tokyo, the June 30 show and the afternoon show the following day: the setlists of the two performances are identical in terms of songs and sequence. The excellent soundboard recording has been corrected for pitch and playback speed.
